Why did her singing audition never happen?

She is addicted to her social media Instagram account and snap stories. Posts every pic on what’s happening in her life. Whether she is eating, waking up, going to the club or travelling, her phone is her best friend. In other words, she is addicted to her phone. Apart from this, she is a great and some day wants to give a singing audition on a big platform.

Her phone keeps on ringing all the time, messages and notifications keep on flooding. Even her mother is worried seeing her cell phone addiction. But she is high on dopamine that her virtual life gives her.

Anyways, it is one such day, when she receives a friend request on one of her social media accounts. It is a boy who is apparently from the same college. His profile seemed decent and she just accepted him in her friends list.

The next day she receives a message on her phone from the same boy on her social media account. It was a ‘hi’ with a smile. She replies “Do I know you ?” The boy replies “not yet” but we are from the same college and I have heard that you sing well. After that she asks what exactly are you trying to say. The boy replies that he was hoping if she could join his band as a female lead singer. He requests her to try a singing  audition and let’s see how it goes.

She is really a passionate singer and she was excited to join one of her college bands. She kept on thinking about the singing audition the whole day. Before going to bed, she even confirmed this online friend of hers that she will be meeting him tomorrow. The boy agreed and closed the chat with a good night.

The next day she wakes up and does her morning chores. After having her breakfast, she tells her mom that she will be late today from the college. Her mom looked at her and got worried. Her mom authoritatively tells her to stay at home and take her pills. After repeated denials from her mother, she screams at her and tells her that she needs to go to college.

To this her mother replies – “You go take your pills, your college is over 10  years back”

She was suffering from third phase schizophrenia where the patient starts hallucinating. The patient’ ability to tell the difference between reality and hallucinations gets over.
